We run to remember. That’s the theme. That’s the thought. I’ve had this race on my list for a while, this Bataan, Joplin, and Marshall University are the only memorial marathons I’m familiar with. As often as we do these things it can be easy to just bang another one out without much thought. But these races demand we spare a thought for these people. It’s not about my time, the medal, or anything else. If you want those details I’ll gladly share, later. Today is about the people of OKC their generousity (so many locals cheering from their lawn). If you’re one of my running friends and you haven’t done this race, do it; I know I’ll be back. Fun fact: Oklahoma City, also known as the Big Friendly, is home to America’s only skeleton museum, the Museum of Osteology, with over 300 skeletons on display.
I am always impressed by firemen in full gear doing a race.
The spirit of volunteerism
Just funny
Fun fact: Parking meters were pioneered in Oklahoma City. The first model of the “Park-o-meter” went in on Robinson Ave and 1st St in Oklahoma City in 1935.

This is the hill we were warned about. Not really a big deal.

I love to see permanent mile markers on a course. Warms the cockles of my heart. Not sure where those are, but it warms them.
US Attorney’s office administered water station. With justice and water to all.
The survivor tree
Continuing my series of “here’s some people who inspire me to run even though it kind of hurts.” I met Miles (far right) and Joy (center) on the coure. Awesome names, right. They were finishing the marathon relay together. Joy apparently wanted to run the race, and her friends joined her in a show of support to put together a relay team. Joy also happens to be missing an arm.
