Los Angeles Marathon 2017

Posted on March 19, 2017July 25, 2019
Marathon #124 at the LA Marathon in Los Angeles, California. I’ve never been all that wild about Los Angeles or most big city races but the people of LA clearly love their marathon, and it certainly offers a tour of the city, Dodger Stadium to Chinatown, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and Santa Monica. It’s a modestly hilly trip through the highlights of the City of Angels. Fun fact: the Santa Monica pier was originally designed to protect an effluent pipe dumping sewage into the Pacific.
Rocking the FDR-style with a chocolate Pocky. LA Marathon, only marathon I’ve ever been given Pocky.
For some reason they put me in a corral that roughly corresponded to my personal best time. Uh. yeah, today was not that.
Dodger Stadium exit
It’s Chinatown, Jake, there’s nothing you can do.
I met these two in Honolulu. It was great to see them on course in Chinatown, and later at the finish.

Trump would call this Gyna-town.
What a stride!
So Jesus’ super-friends might want to rethink strategy. If I was going to start questioning my worldview it sure as shit wouldn’t happen at mile 3.
LA City Hall in the distance. I know this from Dragnet
This Raul. Raul is one tough SOB. He pushed his way up Hill Street in his chair. All the while having to listen to jackwagon’s sermon. Next time you’re in a tough situation, think of Raul. #beLikeRaul
Where’s the people the ethical treatment of trash cans when you need them?
Nice costume. I think it was a costume. Might just be her Sunday go-to-marathon clothes.
Things are in bloom

Cory, Dee Dee Urquhart’s awesome husband on course to offer support
Grauman’s Chinese Theater and the associated walk of fame
I need this dog mask. At least, I assume it’s a mask…
this guy could do a marathon in his sleep…
This is Ben, he was going for a Guinness Record, but alas it was not to be. Great attitude, and just having fun.
Headed into WeHo. Appropriately named.
View down La Cienega to a hazy city below

Beverly Hills, that’s where I want to be!
Its something that you’re born into And I just don’t belong
My kind of people on Rodeo Drive
Bears! Oh My.
Best experience you will ever have? Well it beats the pants of being yelled at by some jerk while you’re trying to climb a hill.
Misogyny, homophobia’s older brother. Just say no.
The thin blue line…
Filipino contingent representing here. Guys, you’re needed at Bataan.
Mormon temple
New Maniac buddy Howie Ludlow from Corpus Christi shamrockin’ out
Quick, to the banana mobile!
The Sikh guys were just quietly handing out water. Not bein’ an a-hole or nothing with a megaphone. Just a thought…
LA either really takes their bandits seriously, or really doesn’t give a damn about bandits, can’t quite figure it out.
