Marathon or greater #134 at the Foot Traffic Flat Marathon on Sauvie Island, bordered by the Multnomah Channel, the Willamette, and the Columbia Rivers just outside Portland. A quick 13 hour turnaround didn’t leave much time, but there was time enough for the important stuff like chatting with Kimberlee Lafferty and Steve Walters. Sharing a hug with Marc Gill (I thought you knew me…) a coffee with Sabrina Seher, and some miles with Denis McCarthy, Karen Eviltwin Vollan, and Robert Manon. Oh yeah, the race, meh. There are cows, donkeys, eagles, nice volunteers, veggie dogs (and I suppose regular dogs if you’re into that sort of thing) and strawberry shortcake at the finish. It’s flat and cool so if you’re looking for a goal race, maybe. Not a bad race, but for a beautiful state like Oregon there are much better races. Fun fact: Oregon’s state flag pictures a beaver on it’s reverse. It is the only state flag to carry two designs on either side.
