Mercedes Marathon 2019

Posted on February 10, 2019July 18, 2019
Big long thing number 190, at the Mercedes-Benz Marathon in Birmingham Alabama. A modestly hilly double loop course through Birmingham, the Pittsburgh of the south. The course was very well supported, and I managed to goof off a little bit and see friends. So basically I won. Birmingham seems to be a city on the make, and the southern hospitality of its locals shows. It’s as good as the Mobile marathon for Alabama, though I want to try Rocket City in Huntsville one day as well. Unfortunately there seems to be an issue with the timing for my last split, and as of now I do not have a result, but I appear to have finished in the exact same time as Saturday’s race, not bad for a double. There were a million cameras though, so I am confident it will be resolved. Feel free to inform Marathon Miss Marple. Fun fact: When Michael Jordan decided to play baseball he played for the Birmingham Barons.
Carol Fenelon Earles and Teal Clark on course. Am I really that much taller?
I just like this
I know lots of people who thank every cop on the course, and I think that’s great, but you should also keep in mind that they get paid to be there. Volunteers, not so much. Make sure you take an opportunity to thank them as well. Volunteers are the best!

My balls are just fine thank you very much
In Hollywood they call this the establishing shot
I hear they’re off shoring their duck soup operations to Freedonia.
Post race trip to visit Vulcan the largest metal sculpture ever created in the United States.
No man can make us hate. Powerful and true words even now.
Got to spend a few miles with Benjamin McBride
How is this not not called the ABCD?
This delicatessen was ironically at mile 26. I decided to have dinner there later.
