Vermont City Marathon 2019

Posted on May 26, 2019July 19, 2019
Big Long Thing 206 done today at the Vermont City Marathon in Burlington, Vermont. A brief backstory: 3 years ago I did this race and they cancelled because it reached 83 degrees. They cancelled 4 hours in so it was a very expensive trip to a fun run. I was, and remain apparently, pissed. I decided I would try the race again after 3 years mostly because I needed a Vermont race and this was the only one I could make work without taking vacation. Anyway today 10 minutes prior to start the announce we need to clear the park because there are dark clouds gathering and there’s a possibility of lightning. 45 minute delay for light showers I heard one rumble and saw no lightning, but more than anything I was instantly transplanted back to 3 years ago and have spent all day mad as a hornet. Anyway long and short of it: Burlington is lovely, but this race can eat a bag of dicks as far as I’m concerned. Fun fact: Vermont City Marathon represents 50% of all my cancelled and delayed races.
Prior to the start. Something wicked this way comes…
Presumably the race director was as terrified as this corgi looks
Vermont City Trail Marathon
Fun fact: I did. US Chess Federation ID 12677793. Hint: I suck at that even more than I suck at this.
Green State Brewing has a tent on the side of the course. Now if only they had something they could put in there that might be interesting, nah. Leave it empty. It builds mystery.
The Safety Nazis say you can’t hold the sign without gloves. You might get a papercut
Tripping, like what you got to be to think I’ll do this again
This is a picture of “moderate health risk.” Live in terror everyone.
Karen’s enjoying herself. What’s in the water bottle, hon?
That’s right folks. High. Like you’ve got to be High to think I’m doing this thing again.
Action Andy Bowden
Spaniels laugh in the face of danger
Danger Will Robinson! Potential Stargate, we’d best delay the race to investigate.
Kid, does Bernie Sanders know that capitalism is thriving here in the People’s Republic of Vermont?
Maple syrup shots. I hope it was filtered and pasteurized otherwise we’re just playing with our lives.
It’s 65. Moderate. Health. Risk. Seriously?!
Where my hose at?
Spared no expense on the shirt
My bib: clearly I was still bitter when they asked what I wanted printed on my bib.
Ridiculous goddamn race
