Kerry to Endorse Obama

Posted by Seth Kramer on Thursday, January 10th 2008 at 9:48am

Word is John Kerry is planning to endorse Obama. What does that mean for Obama? Realistically not much. Endorsements have only questionable effect unless it's from someone dropping out of the race, and Kerry is something of a persona non grata in the Democratic Party after managing to lose in '04, and not managing to shut the hell up afterwards. What can I say, we don't like our loser's banging about in the party.

Regardless, the real effect would seem to be a smack in the face of former running mate John Edwards.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see a Gore endorsement before the Feb. 5th UberPrimary. If he does, he's not planning on getting back into politics ever. He and the Clinton's have plenty of bad blood, but that would be the knife in the back, with a twist.

There's also word that Richardson is dropping out, though his campaign vehemently denies it...for now.

Sorry for all the horserace nonsense. I do plan to pen an essay on policy later.

Another Clinton win/loss:

Nevada
50.7% Clinton
45.2% Obama
3.8% Edwards
0.3% Uncommitted
0.0% Kucinich

But the popular vote translates to:
13 delegates for Obama
12 delegates for Clinton

Which brings the pledged delegate totals to:
38 Obama
36 Clinton
18 Edwards

Counting superdelegates however
210 Clinton
123 Obama
52 Edwards
1 Kucinich

It's officially a Clinton/Obama Race now on the Dem. side. Edwards needs to get out before he embarasses himself nationally. (

The question is, will the people who are voting for Edwards split evenly for Clinton and Obama, or will they favor one. With the exception of S.C. the two democrats have been running neck and neck at ca 33 percent. These people voting for Edwards may decide the promaries. Unfortunately Edwards won't back out until at least after the fifth.

p.s.

It sucks Kucinich couln't pull off his long shot. I wanted a first lady with a tounge stud.

Ted Kennedy is endorsing Obama. I dunno how much truck he has with the sort of people Obama supporters are going to be. Or maybe I should say at least I'm unimpressed.

This on the heels of Caroline Kennedy's OpEd piece "A President Like My Father" in the NYTimes. I think Obama's going to get his butt kicked Feb. 5, but it's nice these peeps are coming out for him now. I'll still have my fingers crossed.

In other news twice as many votes as Clinton in SC, an almost 30 point defeat. Known in political circles as a complete ass-kicking.
