BLT #131, it’s like the half marathon point of big long things, at the cleverly named Pittsburgh Marathon in the Steel City, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. What does a week of rest get me? 4:10 on a hilly course through Pittsburgh’s neighborhoods. Pittsburgh is a place where big-hearted people genuinely love their city, are active participants in making it a better place, and know how to enjoy themselves. If you don’t already love it, the marathon will make you fall in love with this city. Big thanks to 50 stater John Titus for putting me up for the night and the Pittsburgh Frontrunners generally for their hospitality. Fun fact: Pittsburgh, at the confluence of the Allegheny and the Monongahela River to form the Ohio River has more bridges than Venice, and more bridges that may be crossed in a vehicle than any city in the world. Amsterdam and Hamburg have more pedestrian bridges.
