Year-to-date Big Long Thing #42 the White River Marathon in Cotter, Arkansas. This race benefits Kenyans, but not in the usual sort of way, one of them who just happens to run REALLY fast. It was a pleasant double-looped course along a portion of the White River with a very generous cut off. Cool weather and a flat course should have made for a fast time, but some GI issues and a generally being tired and beat up meant I was more than happy to walk a few miles with mega-marathon superstars Vincent and Angela. I think the only person I didn’t manage to get a photo of was Ken Fattman, who took a spill but seemed to be okay. I even got to meet some new to me people: Houston Wolf and the Wisconsin Twins. Fun fact: Cotter, Arkansas purports to be “Trout Capital USA”. Every year they host a trout festival in May.
