Cold and rainy Miami Marathon today. I got to hang with Jim Diego and fellow NYC Frontrunner Marcus. Also great to see Paul Clifford, Loan O’Brien, Kevin Brosi, Liz Gmerek, and Loren Starr and others. I took it easy, but not as easy as I thought I might in prep for next weeks race. Fun fact: Miami’s start is at “Freedom Tower”, a 17 story structure on Biscayne Blvd. was originally constructed in 1924 to house the newly united Miami Daily News and Metropolis newspapers, but it earned its name in 1962 when it became the processing center for Cuban refugees fleeing the Castro government. This country’s commitment to offering opportunity to people whose countries are riven by strife hasn’t been perfect, but history does not look kindly on the times we deviated from our humanitarian commitments to the world.
