Rocky Raccoon 100, my first voluntary DNF (Did Not Finish). I think I went out too fast. First 20 was 4:30, second 5:15, third 8:00. In 13:00 I certainly might have done one more loop, but 2 wasn’t in the cards. So it’s a DNF. A couple of spills (note: even if your Camelbak is chafing, don’t stick both thumbs under the straps, or if you do, don’t trip on a root. I damn near broke a thumb, and/or my face), but no dislocations this time. The weather was great, the only issues were really my own lack of preparation and optimistic ideas about my performance. This looked much more like Keys than Lean Horse. The difference: training and preparation. Fun fact: the Beatles wrote a great song of the same name about an impetuous young man who decides to seek out revenge only to learn a painful lesson. I can somehow relate.
