Marathon number 24 for 2017, and state number 45 for the second go, at the Bismarck marathon in Bismarck, North Dakota. A flat suburban marathon, well supported with volunteers on a cool day with a misting. I began the morning by scouting out other maniacs, and met a nice group of Canadians before I ran into Amy Michele Lambert just before the start. We chatted the whole way and it helped keep me out of the funk I’ve been in lately. So that’s super neat. Fun fact: The North Dakota capitol building, pictured, is the only one in the nation that is asymmetrical. Both houses of the legislature meet on the left side of the building, the tower on the right side is for the executive.

The fact that they’re so emphatic about making the wine from fruit implies to me at some point they thought it might be reasonable to make it from something else (Stems? Grass? Dirt?)
I guess they really only like the executive portion of the building…
Hey Vidal Sassoon, whatever happened to shave and a haircut, two bits?
Labeled “World’s Largest Buffalo” I’m sure they meant “World’s Largest American Bison”
On my way back to Minneapolis I had to stop at the Pioneer Village in Jamestown. I’m always a little weirded out by people who are nostalgic for the days when we took monthly baths.
Who knew Allen Iversen had such a humble beginning?
