6th continent, 8th country done at the Melbourne Marathon in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Cool day with the most mellow start I’ve ever seen at a big city marathon. Nice flat course for the most part past several of the major sites, finishing in the Melbourne Cricket Grounds. I ran the first 10 miles or so with Lara Michelle. It’s always nice to see a familiar face when you’re far from home. Speaking of, it’s been nice catching up with Rustam Bhote and Tanaz Bhote and their kids. Fun fact: Melbourne was almost named “Batmania” after John Batman, the founder of the settlement on the Yarra River that would become Melbourne.
Blurry picture of us, because we were just going that fast…
View of the Central Business District. Fun fact 3 of 4 of Australia’s tallest buildings are in Melbourne.
a mariachi band. I was not expecting that.
They were concocting some sort of witches brew for the electrolyte. Best not to ask. 😉

Fun fact: Australia is currently engaging in a vote by mail non-binding plebiscite to determine whether or not to accept same-sex marriage. The results of the poll will be released on the 15th of November.

That’s some hardware. I think he’s a semifamous local or the biggest attention whore ever
Melbourne has “Spartans” the legacy runners who have done 5 or more Melbourne Marathons. This guy did all 40 years of the Melbourne Marathon. That’s more commitment to a marathon than most people make to their spouse
